Presentasi peran Istri Dalam Film Buya Hamka: Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes
Goal: The purpose of this study is to determine the denotative and connotative
meanings of Siti Raham's role as a wife in the film Buya Hamka based on Roland
Barthes' semiotic theory.
Methode: This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with Roland Barthes'
semiotic analysis approach. By examining denotative and connotative symbols
through data collection based on observation techniques that observe, analyze, and
record Raham's role and documentation of the roles found.
Fact/Finding: This study produced representations of the role of wives, particularly
the figure of Buya Hamka's wife, Siti Raham, as presented in the film “Buya Hamka
Vol. 1.” The results of this study indicate that the representation of the role of the
wife is conveyed through two interpretations. First, the denotative meaning is
depicted in 22 scenes that show Siti Raham's role through various concrete actions
in the domestic sphere, support for her husband, and the reinforcement of religious
values. Second, the connotative meaning produces three main roles of the wife in
the household: as a patient and steadfast companion to her husband, as a school
for her children or mother of her children, and as a religious companion or spiritual
partner. Thus, this study produces a representation of Siti Raham's role in
accompanying Buya Hamka
