Analisa Karakteristik Guru Menurut Imam Nawawiy Dalam Kitab Al-Arbain An-Nawawiyah
Objectives: This study specifically aims to: (1) Describe the teacher characteristics
contained in the Al-Arbain An-Nawawiyah from Imam Nawawi’s perspective; (2)
Categorize these characteristics into pedagogical, personal, professional, and social
competencies; and (3) Analyze the relevance of these values to teacher
competencies in contemporary Islamic education.
Method: This research employs a qualitative approach using the library research
method. The primary data source is the Al-Arbain An-Nawawiyah, while secondary
sources include syarah books, Islamic education literature, and relevant scholarly
journals. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data
presentation, and conclusion drawing using content analysis techniques.
Results: The findings indicate that, according to Imam Nawawi, teacher
characteristics include sincerity in teaching solely for the sake of Allah, exemplary
conduct in morals and worship, patience in guiding students, broad knowledge
accompanied by humility, and a sense of responsibility in safeguarding the trust of
knowledge. These characteristics are based on Qur’anic and Prophetic values and
remain relevant for application in today’s Islamic education system. This research
is expected to serve as a reference for educators in shaping the ideal teacher
according to the Islamic perspective.
