Unveiling The Accounting Implications of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC): Exploring Opportunities And Risks From An Islamic Perspective-A Theory Concept.
This study aims to demonstrate the accounting implications of Central Bank
Digital Currency (CBDC) with a focus on an Islamic perspective. This study
examines the opportunities and risks associated with Central Bank Digital
Currency (CBDC) accounting aspects in the context of Islamic finance.
Considering the Islamic accounting principles that prohibit interest, promote
transparency and emphasize accountability in financial transactions, this study
explores how these principles can influence the recognition, measurement,
presentation and disclosure on financial reporting of CBDC issuance.
The research methodology includes a comprehensive literature review to
understand the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) concept, Islamic
accounting principles, and their relationship. In addition, this research includes
case studies of central banks that have issued Central Bank Digital Currency
(CBDC) to analyze the impact of Islamic accounting. The analysis and research
results focus on the accounting opportunities associated with using Central Bank
Digital Currency (CBDC), including increased transaction transparency, reporting
efficiency, and auditing capabilities. However, this research also identifies
emerging accounting risks such as tax evasion, system reliability, and complexity
of transaction records and how these risks can be mitigated through Islamic
accounting principles.
The results of this study are expected to explain the importance of incorporating
Islamic accounting principles into Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)
issuance and how these principles can improve compliance and sustainability of
Islamic finance. In addition, this research can also contribute to developing
regulations that comply with Islamic accounting principles for Central Bank
Digital Currency (CBDC) expenditures and encourage further research in this
area.
