Purpose: This study aims to determine how the application of sharia principles to hotel
management according to the DSN MUI fatwa and the application of Islamic principles to
management and operations carried out in the Grand Daffam Royan Hotel Yogyakarta.
Methods: This study used a qualitative approach using descriptive analysis methods, namely
describing the data that the researchers collected both from the results of interviews,
observations, and documentation during research at the Grand Daffam Rohan Hotel
Yogyakarta.
Results / Findings: Based on a descriptive analysis of existing data, the authors found that
business practices in terms of facilities, operations, human resources, and organizations are
almost the same as conventional hotels in general, but their management avoids things that
are prohibited by Sharia. As well as a review of Islamic law regarding the DSN Fatwa on
Sharia Hotel Management Practices is permissible, because it is in accordance with the
concept of sharia hotels.
