Purpose: This research was conducted to analyze the effect of the Indonesian
Medical Assosiation or IDI’s Announcement about five ineffective COVID-19
drugs on the stock prices and trading volume activity in the pharmaceutical
companies listed in the Sharia Securities List (DES).
Method: The method used in this research is event study by analyzing the effect of
abnormal returns and trading volume activity around the event of the IDI’s
announcement. The hypothesis used is that there are significant changes before and
after the event of the IDI’s announcement towards these two indicators. Samples
taken from the pharmaceutical companies listed in the Sharia Securities List for the
priod 2021-2022.
Findings: The results of the research explain that investors do not get a significant
difference in the mean of abnormal return before and after the event but there was
a significant difference in the average of trading volume activity before and after
the event.
