The Determinant of Halal Awareness Among Youth : A Study of Higher Education Student in International Islamic University of Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (UniSHAMS)
This paper aims to Determine the factors that contributes to the Halal
awareness of food consumption among the youth generations. Malaysia as we
know is one of theleaders of Halal industry worldwide for years, therefore it is an
advantage to discover the factors that determinethe Halal awareness among the
youth nation of this country. The primary data of this study has been done
quantitatively through the questionnaires, while the secondary data obtained
qualitatively through the literature reviews.
The study was conducted at International Islamic University of Sultan
Abdul Halim Mua’dzam Shah in the state of Kedah within a one-month period.
The sample of 121 respondents from aged 17-30 years as the limit of youth
category has been analysed using Multiple Regression approach through E-views
software. The variables tested on this study are: Faith (X1), Lifestyle (X2),
General Knowledge (X3), Economy (X4) and Halal Awareness (Y). The overall
results show that the variable of faith, lifestyle, and economy have a positive and
significant effects on the Halal awareness of the youth. In contradictory, the
general knowledge does not affect the level of Halal awareness positively and
significantly.
